NCC's Language Center English Language classes are specifically designed for non-Native English speakers. New English Language students - or students who have not attended English classes for one year or more - must take the Language Center Online Test to assess current English level.

NEW STUDENTS: Click on the Assessment Test link below. After they have completed the Assessment Test, students will be contacted regarding their scores and level. They will then be able to register and pay for classess online or by registration form. English classes being offered include:

    In this class, non-English speaking students will learn basic English language skills. Lessons will include the alphabet, number names, and beginning spelling and pronunciation. Students will also study common vocabulary words and phrases to begin to understand spoken and written English; they will practice activities such as getting directions, telling time, making appointments, and spending money.

The goal of this class is to help students better understand day-to-day conversations, short written communications, and television programs. Students will practice using new vocabulary words, pronouns, singular and plural nouns, and simple verb tenses. The class will also learn rules of capitalization and punctuation.

    This intermediate course is designed to increase the oral proficiency of English Language Skills 2 and 3 students. Class members will speak and interact with the instructor and other students. Conversations, group work, and/or role playing will help students speak clearly, using improved grammar and newly acquired vocabulary words. Students will practice speaking English to feel more comfortable communicating in work, business, community, academic, and other settings.

    This course is designed for advanced students who wish to take the TOEFL test in order to transfer into a school requiring a TOEFL score. The intensive six-hour per week course will emphasize test-taking strategies to improve test performance.
